The White Goddess by Birch

The White Goddess by Birch
This was the winning poem in a competition held earlier this year. The poem was chosen as best representing The White Goddess.
It was an extremely difficult task to pick out a winner and all the entries were very, very good. Anyway after careful consideration, the Mods and myself have chosen this as the winning entry:
The White Goddess by Birch
Seekers, sages, all we be...sailing on the seven seas.
Bright and lovely is our journey, light in spirit, ever learning.
Taken from her brightest hem, wrought in mind and put to pen.
The thoughts of others dreams and spirit, basking in the lamp light near it.
Taking what we can from those, unafraid to lay exposed,
the things we feel and see each day, the light that shines and marks our way.
Poets muses living free, amongst the others that can see,
the truth of what our journey is, the random joy and tandem bliss.
We also share the things that grieve, the summerlands where we must leave,
the vessels we all live within, on mother earth, where we begin.
Data we must have these days, to help us see when there be haze,
that hides the brightly shining sky, that lights our path when we are wise.
And when we dance with arms aloft, spirit pulsing warm and soft,
the data that we did imbibe, empowers us...improves the vibe.
The tools we use are meant to be, the implements that set us free.
The favorites on the bar up there, the things we sometimes choose to share,
are things we gave for others use, some data that may help them choose,
the path their spirit should be on - or maybe not. It's never wrong.
We never have to question those, we don't agree with in their prose.
Instead we are allowed to share - indeed we are allowed to bare,
the very things that make us whole, if we so choose to share our soul.
But if we don't, it's still 'all good', a path diverged goes through this wood.
Finders, givers, all we be... seeing what we choose to see.
Learning what we can in spirit, yearning ever to be near it.
Many faiths we share in here, god and goddess - without fear.
Never have I felt oppressed - or naked when I was undressed.
Or shameful when I bared my spirit - above, below, within...or near it.
The spirit where my light has gained, what I have chosen to retain.
To me the goddess is a place, where she empowers what we trace,
and put upon the brilliant white, with ink as black as darkest night,
the things we choose to post and share, with others in her world out there,
a place we dance with arms upraised, to music lilting from her page.
A sharing of the things we are, a beacon shining near and far,
to lands with ice and snow and winds, then searching back where it begins.
Across the oceans and the seas - drifting on the mountains breeze.
Upon the veil's lilting song, where spirit dances ever on.
Above, below, within, without, speaking if we have a doubt,
keeping silent if we choose, either way we never lose.
The choices that we all will make, may help another if we take,
the time to share it on the page... like any other techno mage.
The White Goddess
Bard and minstrel... jester... poet. A place to come and freely show it.
Blessed be
