Dragon Figurines And Statues
A dragon is a fabulous winged crocodile usually represented as of large size, with a serpents tail, so the dragon and serpent are sometimes interchangeable. In the Middle Ages the word was the symbol of sin in general and paganism in particular, the metaphor being derived from Revelation. In medieval romance captive maidens were often guarded by a dragon.
Among the ancient Britons and the Welsh the dragon was the national symbol on the war standard. Hence the term Pendragon for the dux bellorum, or leader in war.
Chinese Dragons
The Chinese dragon is often associated with water and rain and lakes and rivers. Chinese Dragons are divine mythical creatures that brings with it ultimate abundance, prosperity and good fortune. The Chinese proclaim themselves "Lung Tik Chuan Ren", Descendents of the Dragon.
Unlike the the negative aspect associated with Western Dragons, most Eastern Dragons are beautiful, friendly, and wise. They are the angels of the Orient. Instead of being hated, they are loved and worshipped. Temples and shrines have been built to honor them, for they control the rain, rivers, lakes, and seas.
