Ginger

I love ginger and when looking into the healing properties of it I was absolutely amazed by what I found.

Its family name (Zingiberaceae) Other notable members of this plant family are turmeric, cardamom and galangal.

For me personally I tend to use fresh ginger as a tea I simply just slice a 2cm piece and just pour boiling water over it and sweeten to taste.

The main reasons I use ginger are for.

1. Helps to prevent sickness.
2. Settles the stomach.
3. Helps with flu symptoms.
4. Ginger naturally raises body temperature.
5. Helps with my hayfever.

From what I have read most people if they have a reaction to ginger it will be with dried ginger.

Ginger is originally from southern China, spreading eventually to the Spice Islands, other parts of Asia and subsequently to West Africa and the Caribbean. Ginger was exported to Europe via India in the first century AD as a result of the lucrative spice trade. India remains the largest producer of ginger.

Other uses of ginger from around the world are.

1. Constipation
2. Colic
3. Sore throat
4. Tiredness
5. Wind
6. Aids appetite
7. Sinuses issues

Another drink other than Tea you can make with it is Golden milk, this is a mixture of ginger, turmeric and I also add a good pinch of black pepper. I heard about this a few months ago and It is great for colds

Ingredients
2 cups of milk (or substitute coconut milk)
1 teaspoon dried turmeric
1 teaspoon dried ginger
A sprinkle of black pepper.
Honey to taste.

Instructions

Place milk in a saucepan over medium heat.
Add turmeric, ginger, and pepper.
Stir well if you are using the dried spices.
Let the milk begin to simmer.
Allow to heat for another minute or two being careful not to let the milk overheat.
Continue to stir at this point.
Turn off heat, cover, and allow the mixture to sit for ten minutes or so to improve the infusion.

It's supposedly easy to grow your own. I tried it once, got a huge stem that ended up about four foot high, then it died because I couldn't keep it warm enough. It was in a little propagator and I had to keep building extensions for it!

I use the pickled ginger that's used in Sushi. I have found the results to be great. I suffer from a condition called Costochondrinitis which can be quite painful at times due to inflammation. Ginger works safely, quickly and it's very natural.
