100 Days of Nature

100 Days of Nature Part 1

100 Days of Nature

The 100 Days of Nature is a photo project challenge from the BBC Springwatch team. The idea behind the project was to take one photograph a day for 100 days. 100 days, 100 moments of nature, 100 photos.

This is the first of two parts, showing the first 50 photographs I took, starting from 24th July 2014. I decided to take up the challenge for several reasons, I thought it would be a great way to get outdoors and connect with nature. But mostly I thought, well how hard can it be....

Well, here we are 50 days in.... and it's harder than I thought and there's still 50 more days to go. A great many of the photographs were taken locally and I've enjoyed finding some of the hidden gems my area has to offer.  It's also been interesting to watch the changes around me over the last 50 days, and the wide variety of plant, animal and insect life there is - if you take time to notice.

Over the last week or so I've noticed the shift in seasons, many of the flowers from earlier in the year have gone and plants and trees are now laden with fruits and seeds. Trees have started to get their autumn colours and I've noticed an abundance of fungi growing everywhere.

I hope you enjoy these photographs as much as I've enjoyed finding and taking them. Part 2 of 100 Days of Nature will feature the next 50 photographs, where I'm looking forward to seeing autumn come with vengeance....

All photographs taken using a Canon EOS 100D with the following lenses: Canon EF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM, Canon EF 75-300mm f4-5.6, and Canon 100mm f2.8 USM Macro.

I love the way the snail is clinging to such a small branch. They are lovely photos and would make a great calendar.

lovely I done a similar thing a with a beech tree and when you see the seasons mapped out in front of you like that its even more special sometimes I think we all take things like the beauty of seasonal change for granted and you see it through new eyes.
