The White Goddess - The Lighted Path.

The Lighted Path.

11th November 2001

Samhain. A magical night of the year, a night of power, when the veil that separates our world from the Otherworld is at its thinnest. The end of the old year and the beginning of the new, which begins with the onset of the dark phase of the year.

The Lighted Path.

I heed the call, the wild woodlands song,
Beckon me onwards, under the moons watchful gaze.
In a moonlit forest glade, watching clouds like veils,
Over the heavens starry display, the lone owl's song.
In the wild woodlands song,
The feeling of belonging, to the whole of creation.

I heed the summons, of the ancestors chant,
From beyond the worlds, when the mists draw thin.
Of those gone before, to the Summerland's embrace,
And the loving care, of the Earth Mother and Sky Father.
In the ancestors chant,
The tranquil peace of knowing, all return to the one.

I heed the rhythms, of natures cycle,
Of endings, as the reign of light declines.
Of new beginnings, on a night outside of time,
Jack-o'lanterns burning bright, in Sidh mounds they light the path.
In natures spiral cycle,
At Autumn's end, when visions of the future are foretold.
