About the White Goddess Sites
The White Goddess
My aim when I set up this site, was for it to be a repository for all the things that interest me. To be an online record of my
thoughts as a pagan. Most of the articles on the site have been written by me. Though past members have written things, for which
I'm very thankful.
I set it up in June 21st 2001, so almost 4 years ago. The Witchweb Forum was a progression from this site, containing most of the pages
from the old White Goddess Site (which are still available online) and the forum.
Setting up a forum is not as easy as it sounds, a lot of work goes into getting it registered on search engines, getting members and more
importantly getting and keeping them posting. The forum although a freebie, has been customised by myself. I design and code all the
pages that you see on this site with the exception of the forum. (Its not that I couldn't program one myself, but this has all the
functionality I needed.)
Last year saw the close of Witchweb, it was a hard thing to do. But for personal reasons, I didnt have the time or inclination to spend
on it as I should. The White Goddess site was still here, though sadly neglected and no new articles had been added for a while.
Around August - September, I decided to give the old site a revamp. Redesigning the site from scratch. I wanted to incorporate all the
things I'd learnt since I first put the site up, both in pagan terms and the coding and programming of the site.
Since the new site went live, I've added over 100 more pages to the site. A lot of these came from other sites I had going, but decided
to consolidate into a single site. However there was still a lot of new stuff to keep me busy.
On the second of November last year, I added the Site Stats, and since then visitors have clocked up an amazing 150,000 page views (not
including the Forum). The guestbook, a feature from the old site, still attracts a lot of favourable comments from visitors. These
comments, make all the effort I've put into the site worthwhile.
So that brings us up to the current day. But what lies in store for the future? Well only time can tell. There will always more
articles to write, new pages to code, new friends to meet in the forums. But most of all I would like to say a big thank you to all
those who have visited this site over the past four years, because you make this the place that it is.
Thank you everyone.
