The White Goddess - The Elements and their Correspondences.

The Elements - The Elements and their Correspondences.

The Elements are the original base elements of all corporeal things, of which all other things are made, by transmutation and union.

Fire, Earth, Water, and Air are the four simple elements. Next come four kinds of perfect bodies compounded of the four simple elements, namely, Metal, Stone, Plants and Animals. Within these all the elements combine together, but still follow the characteristics of the most predominant element. Thus Stones being earthy are naturally heavy and so cannot be melted. Metal is watery and may be melted.

Plants have an affinity with air. Fire is natural to animals.

The elements are therefore, the first and original matter of all things, in that they are in all things and their virtues also.

The elements are also in the heavens, the stars and likewise The Goddess and God, the maker and original example of all things.
