Persephone - Goddess of the Underworld
Persephone is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. She is queen of the underworld and a goddess of vegetation, she was worshipped alongside her mother Demeter in the Eleusinian Mysteries. The myth of her abduction by Hades represents her function as the personification of vegetation which shoots forth in spring and withdraws into the earth after harvest.
