Masks of Misrule: Horned God and His Cult in Europe
Nigel Jackson

Paperback: 164 pages
Publisher: Capall Bann Publishing (April 1996)

This book takes a look at the Horned God in the Traditional Witchcraft of Britain and Europe and the integration and development of concepts and beliefs surrounding the Horned God.  It looks at various aspects of the Horned God from various traditions and cultures of Europe and beyond.  Interspersed among the book are various rites and rituals to help connect with the various facets of the Horned God.

Each chapter discusses the Horned God in his various guises; such as the leader of the Wild Hunt, the Christmas Fool, Saturnus & the Cult of Misrule and the Green Man.  This is not your common standard Wicca 101 handbook, there's no info on circle casting, correspondences etc; instead a twisting, crooked path of the Primal Male Force in nature and traditional witchcraft.

The book has 164 pages including a glossary and index and is illustrated by drawings by the author.  Whilst not a big book (and the font size is rather large) it's still packed with loads of interesting little snippets.  In fact I've spent more time on the internet looking into more detail than I have reading the book.

Overall, an excellent read and presents some deeply interesting material leaving the reader to absorb and put into practice.  This book was recommended by a forum member, and a very good recommend it was.

I voted this book five stars-it's well worth it.
A staple on the shelf of one wanting to learn more about the faces of the God of the Traditional craft.
