Crystal Enchantments: A Complete Guide to Stones & Their Magical Properties
D.J. Conway

Paperback: 352 pages
Product Dimensions: 15.4 x 1.8 x 22.9 cm

The book is split into three Parts

Part One (Gate Of Stone) is a general introduction to rocks and stones and how they have been used throughout the ages. It also includes a small section on choosing and cleansing stones.

Part Two (Stones And Their Powers) Contains a list of stones in A - Z order, which makes up the main bulk of the book.  Each stone is then discussed by it's hardness, colours, sources, history and folklore, healing energies, magical powers and magical uses. Some of these descriptions run to several pages providing enough in depth information for each stone.

Part Three (Other Uses For Stone Magic) The final part of the book includes various sections on the use of stones for magical and spell working.  These include using stones for divination, scrying and healing. Finally there are various tables of correspondences covering appropriate stones for each season, Birth Stones and Zodiac, Days of the Week, Chakra Stones etc. At the end of the book is a list of alternative names for gems and stones, a technical glossary and a list of stones grouped by their qualities and influences.

The book, however lacks illustrations or photographs of each stone, which could be a bit of a drawback if you intended to use the book to try and identify crystals in your collection - if you happen to forget exactly what they are.

It's not really a book for reading from cover to cover, though I suppose you could if you wished, but more for dipping in and out of. The information is extensive and clearly written. As a reference book for stones, this one certainly packs enough information into each page and covers most of the gems and stones you're likely to come across.  You could use this book in conjunction with other books that do have photographs of each stone, such as The Crystal Bible Vol 1 and 2 by Judy Hall.
