Invocation To Amun

An Invocation to Amun

Give praise to Amun,
Lord of the Thrones of the two lands,
Who presides over Thebes,
Lord of this sanctuary, great and fair,
That he may let my eyes see his beauty.

Give praise to Amun,
I make this invocation in his name,
I give praise to the heights of heaven,
And over the breadth of the earth.
I tell of his greatness to all,
To son and daughter,
To the great and small.
Herald him to generations not yet born,
To the fishes in the deep, and the birds in the sky,
Herald him to the foolish and the wise.

Give praise to Amun,
Who harkens to the voice of the poor,
Who comes to those in distress,
Who gives life to those who are wretched,
Who rescues those in bondage.

Give praise to Amun,
That my eyes may see you each day,
You are the Lord to him who calls you.
Give praise to thee, O Lord of Thebes,
Who has set thyself in my heart.
Content with maat, O King of Gods.
