The Kraken
The Kraken

The Kraken was described in Homers Odyessy.

In the Odyssey, Homer describes a beast called the Scylla, written about 650 BC:

She has twelve legs, all writhing, dangling down
and six long swaying necks, a hideous head on each,
each head barbed with a triple row of fangs . . .
No mariners yet can boast they’d raced their ship
past Scylla’s lair without some mortal blow.

When Ulysses during his odyssey passes the Messina strait, Skylla costs him twelve of his companions. Skylla is described as of horrible appearance, with twelve feet and six heads.
